Genoa, Nev. — The second potential public safety power outage watch in three days for the Sierra Front from Genoa to Clear Creek and the Virginia City Highlands is 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, according to NV Energy.


I checked Liberty Utilities site and there’s no hint they’re planning another outage for Woodfords and Markleeville. NV Energy has only ever implemented one of these near the Washoe House on Jacks Valley Road back in 2021 and that only affected a handful of customers.


The annual flood workshop is 4-6 p.m. today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville. Residents will get to talk to representatives from Douglas County Stormwater Management and other agencies.


A town hall for veterans that was set for Saturday at the Community Center has to be rescheduled, organizer Dean Miller said. They’ll let folks know when they have a new date and spot.


The Siera Nevada Republican Women are hosting County Manager Jenifer Davidson and conducting a veterans program at their luncheon meeting today at the COD Casino. RSVP to Charlene at charmann@live.com and let her know if you or your guest is a veteran.


Nevada is expanding access to the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline with a new $49.7 million call center in Las Vegas to join the one in Reno. The contractor running the centers hopes to get 95 percent of the calls answered within 20 seconds.


The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory kicking off at 10 a.m. and lasting through 7 p.m. today. The forecast calls for 20-30 mph southwest winds, gusting to 50 mph.


There’s a chance of showers after 1 p.m., but it doesn’t appear that there will be much precipitation. It might get a little cloudy this afternoon. Today’s high temperature is predicted to be 60 degrees.
