The John Ben Snow Memorial Trust has awarded Me for Incredible Youth a grant for its REWARD Club-Leadership 4 Teens Program. These programs provide students and athletes, 12-18, with resources and information to succeed in high school and prepare for college, vocational and career opportunities.


Genoa Lakes Ladies’ Golf Club Senior Championship

Sixteen members, 70 and older, participated in the Genoa Lakes Ladies’ Golf Club Senior Cup Tournament at the Lakes course in September. Juanita Wells was crowned the winner of the two-day tournament, with a gross score of 175. Jo Anne Hudson was the net winner with a score of 142, followed by Vicki DeVore with a net score of 143. First winners were: first flight – Jeanne Fadem; second flight – Gail Teig; third flight – Jackie Aynesworth.

Membership in the Genoa Lakes Ladies’ Golf Club is open to women golfers age 18 and over. The 2025 season will begin in April.

Matthews heads into AMA Hall of Fame

Debbie Matthews was officially inducted into the AMA Hall of Fame in late October in Pickerington, Ohio.

Matthews made history in the sport in a multitude of ways, starting with the longest consecutive amateur career in women’s motocross, which lasted 27 years.

After her racing career, Matthews continued to be heavily involved in the sport as a coach and mentor.


CVMS hoops open season with wins over Eagle Valley

The opening night of the Tah-Neva league finished with a pair of wins for Carson Valley Middle School over Eagle Valley.

In the sixth/seventh grade game, CVMS took down Eagle Valley, 37-17.

M. Torres led the team with 10 points in the win followed by N. Fasler (6), C. Griffith (5), C. Schierholt (5), W. Martin (5), A. Zumstein (2), B. Hemsath (2) and W. Knittle (2). 

In the eighth grade contest, CVMS bested Eagle Valley, 44-21.

T. Kenison had a team-high 18 points in the win. E. Coyne was next on the team with 8 followed by W. Gustafon (6), L. Weber (4), C. Hawk (2), D. Dohm (2), J. Hoover (2) and T. Frisbee (2)
