Genoa, Nev. — Power has been restored in Fish Springs after a dump truck hit and splintered a power pole near Out R Way and Old Ranch Road around 11 a.m. Wednesday. Power wasn’t back on for around 40 NV Energy customers until after 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Valley a public safety outage is affecting 33 NV Energy customers along Jacks Valley Road north of Genoa. Power will be restored sometime this morning after workers check the lines.
A red flag warning issued late Wednesday morning expired at 7 p.m. without any reports of major fires. The wind gauge at Alpine View clocked a 56 mph gust at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Ninety minutes later, the gauge along Highway 88 between Mottsville and Centerville lanes had a 55 mph gust.
Wednesday’s flood workshop was sort of like a flood, with a big surge at the beginning, decreasing to a trickle as it continued. The county is pursuing the next step in its flood control work along Pine Nut Creek.
We might see some snow in the Sierra tonight and into Friday with a little bit downstairs. There is a 1-in-5 chance that snow banding might dump in one of the Western Nevada valleys, depending on the wind direction and temperature.
There’s a slight chance of showers between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., increasing after 10 p.m. today. Otherwise, the forecast calls for mostly sunny sies and a high of 54 degrees.
