East Fork Fire Protection District trustees are scheduled to discuss $1.97 million in insurance contracts for medical coverage at their meeting 1 p.m. today in their offices, 1694 County Road in Minden.
East Fork firefighters responded to a fire in the front yard of a Ruhenstroth home around 3:40 p.m. Monday. When they arrived they found a 20 by 20 foot fire that was mostly out and were able to douse it in good order.

A lake wind advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service Reno 10 p.m. today through 7 p.m. Wednesday at Tahoe for possible 40 mph southwest wind gusts and waves of 1-4 feet.
There’s a winter storm warning for the Sierra west slope starts 4 p.m. today. There’s a possibility of 1-2 feet of Sierra cement above 7,000 feet this weekend as an atmospheric river makes landfall.
We might see up to a half inch of rain in the Valley over Wednesday and Thursday, but the weekend’s totals could double that with the National Weather Service predicting the possibility of more than an inch of rain.
Today will be a good day to do any hatch battening that’s required. Expect partly sunny skies and a high temperature near 49 degrees. The wind will pick up out of the west at 5 mph.
