Genoa, Nev. — We might actually see some precipitation today after a week of mostly just wind. There’s a chance for up to a half inch of rain in the Valley through Saturday morning.
With 53 mph wind gust in Alpine View at 3 a.m. today and a high wind warning kicking off at 7 a.m., there’s a very good chance for a public safety power outage along the Sierra Front. NV Energy specifically called out the section along Jacks Valley north of Genoa.

County commissioners introduced a 25-cent increase in the 911 surcharge on phone lines at their meeting on Thursday, raising it to $1. The surcharge is still subject to a vote before it will be implemented.
