Genoa, Nev. — We might actually see some precipitation today after a week of mostly just wind. There’s a chance for up to a half inch of rain in the Valley through Saturday morning.
With 53 mph wind gust in Alpine View at 3 a.m. today and a high wind warning kicking off at 7 a.m., there’s a very good chance for a public safety power outage along the Sierra Front. NV Energy specifically called out the section along Jacks Valley north of Genoa.
As of 6 a.m. today, the wind is the major travel factor with semi trucks prohibited from Interstate 580 this morning. If the precipitation does arrive, expect Kingsbury and Spooner to be challenging for today’s commute. Visit nvroads.com for road conditions.
County commissioners introduced a 25-cent increase in the 911 surcharge on phone lines at their meeting on Thursday, raising it to $1. The surcharge is still subject to a vote before it will be implemented.
