A nationwide $8,264.95 warrant was issued for a man who admitted stripping 1,000 feet of copper tubing from the roof of Carson Valley Plaza in 2021.
Eirik Josephlee Arizmendi, 38, has been in the wind for more than 80 days, according to the Department of Parole & Probation.
When he was sent to prison on Sept. 19, 2023, he was ordered to contact the court two weeks after his release to arrange to pay the restitution he owed. His last parole hearing was April 9.
He admitted to principal to grand larceny and willful injury to property in connection with the March 10, 2021, thefts.
• A former Minden motel manager received a suspended 2-5 year prison sentence on Tuesday for selling methamphetamine.
Wendy Lee Soucy, 56, admitted she sold the drugs a half-dozen times between Dec. 19, 2023, and Jan. 8.
Soucy doesn’t have any criminal history, attorney Matthew Ence said in asking for a suspended 12-30-month sentence.
Prosecutor Jim Sibley said she used her position to sell drugs at the motel.
Soucy said she thought she was helping a friend.
“I thought that person was a friend, and I didn’t see it coming,” she said. “I’ve learned to stay away from people who smile and take my kindness for weakness.”
District Judge Tod Young wasn’t buying it, though.
“I don’t credit anything you’ve said,” he said. “You were a voluntary participant. You minimize it and blame someone else.”
As a condition of her two-year probation, Soucy must participate in Western Nevada Regional Drug Court.
• A New York man received a suspended 2-5-year prison term on Tuesday after he admitted to mid-level possession of fentanyl.
John James Damianos was arrested with 10-11 grams of the drug along with psilocybin mushrooms and concentrated marijuana, according to prosecutor Jim Sibley. Sibley said that because of the care required to measure the fentanyl the packaging didn’t amount to the originally asserted 99 grams.
“I did do this,” Damianos said. “I want to thank everyone for doing their job. If this hadn’t happened I wouldn’t have got my act together.”
In response, District Judge Tod Young asked him how long he was going to stay in Alcoholics Anonymous.
“Forever,” he replied.
“That’s the right answer,” the judge said.
• A Gardnerville Ranchos man admitted to possession of a controlled substance and someone else’s credit cards on Tuesday.
Prosecutors agreed to recommend 12-30-month simultaneous sentences for Jesse Chance Johnson, 37, in connection with a Sept. 30, 2022, Stateline arrest.
Johnson is also facing a 14-36-month sentence for a prior possession of a controlled substance related to a 2019 arrest. He was ordered to participate in the Western Nevada Regional Drug Court program in October 2020, but dropped out and didn’t appear for a July review hearing.
The additional charges against Johnson stem from a Sept. 30, 2022, arrest in Stateline.
Each of the charges carries a maximum of four years at Johnson’s Dec. 10 sentencing, which District Judge Tod Young said he could impose and make consecutive.
