Genoa, Nev. — Road controls are in effect over Kingsbury Grade and other routes through the mountains, including Highway 395 through Walker Canyon along with the usual suspects.


Heavenly Valley’s snow telemetry is showing 3 additional inches at 8,533 feet for a total snow depth of 11 inches. Carson Valley gauges are reading between .02 and .16 inches of precipitation over the past 24 hours.


A plume of moisture is headed right for Mono County, which could see significant snow down toward Mammoth and Lee Vining. If your Thanksgiving travels take you over the mountains be prepared.


The storm in the Sierra is moving faster than originally forecast which has prompted the National Weather Service to move up the time for a winter storm warning to expire to 4 p.m.


Today is the last day to submit miniatures to the East Fork Gallery for its annual show. The artists are focusing on historic Carson Valley. The gallery is located at 1512 Main St. Suite 4 in Gardnerville. For more information email eastforkartists@gmail or call 775-782-7929.


Whatever rain the Valley receives will be earlier this morning. The snow level will be at 5,600 feet and the high temperature in Minden is forecast to be 48 degrees with south winds 5-15 mph shifting west this afternoon.
