The gallery has been a Gardnerville fixture for 45 years, starting out in one of those structures, the old Harris store which had been moved to Gardnerville a century before it was claimed by fire on Jan. 3, 1995.
One source for photos was sort of an artifact, the “Looking Back Douglas County” book published by The Record-Courier in 2007, artist Helen Yoder said on Saturday.
Art for the project was due Tuesday at the gallery, located at 1512 Main St. Entries 80 square inches or smaller will be judged and ribbons distributed at the gallery’s Christmas reception 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1.
The gallery is one of several nonprofits eligible for donations on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3.
A slightly older nonprofit Young at Heart Senior Citizens Organization celebrated 50 years since its founding in 1974.
The group contributes $24,000 a year to the Hot Soup Program and donates $20,000 to fill needs for the kitchen, Meals on Wheels and other items at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center.
Two of its biggest events are also its largest fundraiser, Big Mama’s Show and Shine and the Holiday Craft Fair.
