Genoa, Nev. — Today is Family Day for state and local government, but the Post Office and most banks are open. Stores, on the other hand, are experiencing Black Friday, with the county’s two Walmarts opening 6 a.m. today. The R-C office will be open today.
A collision at Highway 395 and Jacks Valley Road 3:30 p.m. Thanksgiving Day reportedly resulted in an arrest for driving under the influence. There were a few calls for reckless drivers on Thanksgiving and I heard at least two other arrests.
Minden’s Nevada Dance Company opens its 35th annual production of “The Nutcracker” 7 p.m. tonight at the Carson City Community Center. Show times are 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
The 24th annual Kandy Kane Craft Fair opens 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden. It continues through Saturday and Sunday. Parking and admission are free.
Minden-Tahoe Airport registered 7 degrees this morning, and that seems like it’s going to be the norm for a bit, and I expect we’ll be hearing frozen pipes calls as the day warms up. The forecast high is 52 degrees under sunny skies and still conditions.
