A woman who stole fixtures she pried out of the walls of a vacation rental, along with stealing everything in sight, was sentenced Tuesday to four years in prison.
Amanda Sue Nelson, 40, rented the location in Stateline with someone else’s credit card and then stole $14,278 from it.
The theft occurred March 27, 2022. She was told to appear July 18, 2023, in Tahoe Township Justice Court but didn’t show up in court.
In October, she admitted to felonies of grand larceny and failure to appear.
Attorney Matthew Ence said Nelson was living in Redding at the time of the court hearing and didn’t have the means to travel to Stateline.
Under an agreement, both the prosecution and defense recommended 12-30 month sentences to be served simultaneously.
Instead, District Judge Tod Young sentenced her to 19-48 months in prison and 12-36 months with the terms run consecutively.
“You are a thief,” the judge said.

Under a plea agreement, both sides are free to argue for any lawful sentence.
Passey and co-offender Kimberly Troy Stallings, 29, are both facing potential prison terms.
Stallings entered a guilty plea on Nov. 2 in Department 2 and is facing up to five years in prison at her Dec. 16 sentencing.

Allen was found with the drugs on Nov. 16, 2023, in Stateline.

• A Gardnerville woman who wrote $1,725 in bad checks to Sharkey’s was ordered Tuesday into Western Nevada Regional Drug Court.
Leonna Lynn Mortimer wrote the checks between Oct. 1 and Nov. 30, 2023. She also admitted felony failure to appear in court.
Then she failed to appear in court again on Nov. 12. She turned herself in shortly after.
Defense attorney Max Stovall said that Mortimer didn’t want to do drug court and was withdrawing her petition for diversion.
However, prosecutor Bill Murphy said he was willing to stand by the agreement.
“I’m not opposed to doing drug court,” she said.
“You are not a good decision maker,” District Judge Tod Young said. He rejected the withdrawal of her petition and ordered her into Western Nevada Regional Drug Court.
Should she fail drug court, Mortimer could face up to 19-48 months on each count.
