The Record-Courier's Best of Carson Valley celebrated its 30th publication on Saturday.

The 56-page publication was included in editions of the combined section of the Nevada Appeal and the R-C.

Copies will also be available Monday at The R-C’s office in Minden.

Associate Publisher Tara Addeo MC’d the annual Best Of luncheon at the Carson Valley Inn on Friday. The luncheon celebrated a decade since its first version in 2014.

The first Best Of was published Oct. 7, 1995, implemented by Publisher Tim Huether.

Thousands of winners later with literally hundreds of thousands of votes both the contest and the luncheon are going strong.

This year’s edition features Best Photographer Kim Steed’s photo of Sheriff Dan Coverley chasing a calf to take it into custody.

Best nonprofit and best service club winners Douglas Animal Welfare Group plugged their first Pet-A-Palooza 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
