Genoa, Nev. — Fresh off winning the “coveted skeleton on a toilet” award for crappiest coffin at the races on Saturday, members of E. Clampus Vitus unveiled a historical monument commemorating the Paupers plots at Garden Cemetery.
Main Street Director Jen Tune reported her organization won the races in Heritage Park on Saturday, with Stor All winning best coffin and Dance Workshop wining best costumes. She said Heritage Park was packed from the minute the Fall Fest opened.
I asked an artist with East Fork Gallery how many scarecrows joined the population, and the answer was “a lot.” We’ll see if we can pin that down today.
The first Pet a Palooza sponsored by the Douglas Animal Welfare Group and Douglas County Animal Services seemed to be well attended at the Fairgrounds on Sunday. I met kittens Vincent and Hamilton, and dog Boss during the event.
I heard two bear calls up in Stateline on Sunday, including one for three bears on Ferris Court behind where the Lakeside used to be. Bears are out and about and looking for grub, that’s for certain.
The Carson Valley Health Foundation Fall Golf Classic is this morning at Sunridge Golf Course. I expect the tournament is full, but email foundation@carsonvalleyhealth.org if you want to donate to the cause.
There was a little rain in the Sierra on Sunday and there might be more today. The forecast calls for a slight chance of thunderstorms in Carson Valley after 2 p.m. Otherwise, expect mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of 85 degrees.
