Burglar gets another 2-6 years in prison

A Reno man already serving at least 18 years in prison received another 2-6 years on Monday.

Charles Floyd Timms, 45, was arrested April 2 after he broke into a home and stole a small safe and a jewelry box and its context.

Already serving a prison sentence on charges of burglary, grand larceny and obtaining property under false pretenses out of Washoe County, Timms was sentenced to an additional 2-6 years which is to run consecutive with the Washoe cases.

• A man whose vehicle went airborne while driving away from law enforcement entered a no-contest plea to driving under the influence and eluding a peace officer.

Tyler John Christy, 32 was arrested Feb. 2 after driving under the combined influence of alcohol and cocaine.

According to court documents, Christy was driving on Highway 395 at speeds up to 120 mph.

He was followed onto Johnson Lane, then turned north on to Heybourne Road, where he turned off his lights in an attempt to not be seen.

Once on Stephanie Way, Christy’s vehicle went airborne causing sparks and damage to his vehicle, before accelerating again to approximately 93 mph.

He then came to a stop on the side of the road and fled from the vehicle on foot, attempting to jump over a barbed wire fence before he was detained.

Christy reportedly suffers from a traumatic brain injury and does not remember the incident.

Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 18.

• A woman entered a guilty plea on Oct. 1 to felony selling methamphetamine.

Wendy Lee Soucy, 56, admitted she sold the drugs between Dec. 19, 2023, and Jan. 8.

Under an agreement, both sides are free to argue for any lawful sentence.

Soucy faces up to five years and a $10,000 fine at her Nov. 18 sentencing.

Soucy is accused of conducting a half-dozen sales while she was manager of a Minden motel.

• Sentencing was set for Nov. 19 for a Gardnerville man who dropped out of drug court.

 Jesse Chance Johnson, 37, appeared Oct. 1 after he was arrested on no-bail, nationwide warrant issued when he didn’t appear for a July review hearing.

He was ordered to participate in the Western Nevada Regional Drug Court program in October 2020 after he was arrested the previous year for passing a marijuana pipe in a car parked next to the Douglas County Judicial & Law Enforcement Center.
