Pair faces felonies in dog dispute

A man and woman were arrested on Thursday night after they allegedly, while armed, entered a home on Topaz Lane in an alleged dispute over a dog.

Christy Marie Field, 39, of Sparks, and Matthew Americus Field, 20, of Carson City appeared Friday in East Fork Justice Court facing felony charges of burglary and assault with a deadly weapon

“They came to a stranger’s home over a pit bull that was rescued from the shelter,” prosecutor Kallie Nelson said at a bail hearing.

Christy Field was released on $10,000 bond over the weekend, while Matthew Field, who is accused of pointing a gun at someone, is being held in lieu of $50,000.

• The former treasurer of the Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club is facing an accusation he embezzled $40,000 from the club’s coffers.

Indian Hills resident Eric Oliver Jacobs, 26, appeared in court on a felony charge of embezzlement of $3,500 or more.

Jacobs was taken into custody on Thursday.

Nelson argued that he was taking painkillers at the time. He was also an employee at Nevada State Bank.

East Fork Senior Judge Steve McMorris set bail at $10,000 cash or bond. Jacobs appeared in East Fork Justice Court on Monday morning where an Oct. 18 preliminary hearing was set. Justice of the Peace Paul Gilbert left his bail where McMorris set it on Friday. 

• A man who admitted he sold pot to minors is back in court on four separate contempt charges and a failure to appear.

Chris Andrew Ferguson, 44, failed to appear in district court on May 6 and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

His bail was set at $1,000 cash in each case. He is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday with attorney Mary Brown.

• Bail was set at $25,000 cash or bond for a woman facing felonies of identity theft and forgery.

Nicole Cathleen Bianchi, 36, appeared in East Fork Justice Court on Friday morning.
