Genoa, Nev. — I received the link to the Town Hall School Board debate around 10 p.m. Thursday. It’s about 50 minutes long. I’ve tested it and it appears to be working.

The weather is getting cooler, which means it’s time for chili! Intero’s annual Chili Cook-off is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at their office, 1362 Main St., Gardnerville. Information, 775-783-5330.

A fire at one of the auto shops on Service Drive 10 a.m. Thursday was isolated to the vehicle, according to East Fork firefighters on scene.

A T-bone type collision at 395 and Ironwood around 5 p.m. Thursday didn’t result in anyone opting for an ambulance ride, that I heard.

According to NASA's aurora dashboard, a solar storm hit G4 last night. Carson Valley residents were able to take its picture at its height.

Monday is the federal holiday of Columbus Day, which is technically Saturday. It will affect mail and federal banking institutions, but not state and local governments since we traded it for Nevada Day back before the turn of the century.

It’s a chilly 34 degrees out this morning at Minden-Tahoe Airport, which is confirmed by the NDOT station at 395 and Airport Road. Then inversion is in place with 40-degree temperatures on the bench and 52 degrees at 5,381 feet altitude on Kingsbury.

Today’s forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature of 81 degrees. The wind will pick up out of the southwest at 5-10 mph in the afternoon, gusting to 20 mph.
