Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies have responded to nearly 300 traffic crashes so far in 2024.

The Sheriff’s Office is participating in the Joining Forces traffic safety campaign combining 30 law enforcement agencies, including the Nevada State Police, across the Silver State focused on traffic safety awareness and enforcement. The campaign series will run from October 2024 through September 2025.

“The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is committed to keeping roads safe and promoting safe driving practices,” said Sheriff Dan Coverley. “The Joining Forces campaign is instrumental developing relationships with agencies throughout the state and working toward a common goal of increased traffic safety.”

Joining Forces is a high-visibility, multi-jurisdictional effort to increase safety on Nevada’s roads. The program places focus on increased awareness and enforcement of traffic laws, including distracted and impaired driving, seat belt use, speeding, pedestrian safety, motorcycle, bicycle, and other traffic laws.  The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is able to participate in the Joining Forces traffic safety campaign through a grant provided by the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Safety Transportation Administration.
