Stanton promoted to deputy director of Community Services

Douglas County Parks Superintendent Ryan Stanton has been promoted to deputy director of community services.

Stanton has worked for Douglas County for the past 17 years, starting out as a seasonal park maintenance assistant.

“The Community Services Department is confident that Ryan’s extensive experience and deep-rooted commitment to Douglas County will lead to continued growth and development in the department and across the organization,” said Community Services Director Brook Adie.

Stanton held every position during his 15-year full-time tenure with the county parks department, including park ranger and senior park ranger before joining the management team as parks supervisor.

Stanton has overseen numerous projects including:

• The construction of the Johnson Lane Dog Park

• The establishment of the Carson Valley Pickleball Facility

• Significant safety improvements to the shooting range, including the installation of a blue sky baffle system and a hot/cold firing line system

• Upgrades to the Fairgrounds Arena lighting

• The reconstruction of Brautovich Park

• The implementation of a self-service kayak rental program at Topaz Lake Campground

He received the Young Professional Award from the Nevada Recreation and Parks Society.

A long-time resident of Douglas County, Stanton has a personal connection to the parks and facilities he oversees. Having used the spaces as a child and teenager, he now enjoys watching his own children experience the same joy in the parks. He and his wife are parents of 6-year-old twins.

“I am honored to take on the role of Deputy Director of Community Services,” said Stanton. “I look forward to continuing to serve this incredible community and to enhancing the quality of life for all our residents. Together, we will build on our successes and create even more opportunities for recreation and connection.”
