Genoa, Nev. — A helicopter pilot was rescued Tuesday after he made a forced landing near the East Fork of the Carson River just over the state line. The helicopter reportedly rolled into the river. Care Flight and Alpine rescuers found him, and he was flown to Carson Valley Health for treatment around 5:30 p.m.

There was quite a bit going on around that time, including a dirt biker who went into a ditch just west of Highway 88 on Fairview around 5 p.m. and seven people stuck in an elevator at one of the Stateline casinos.

Two vehicle collisions occurred on Tuesday, including one on Sunridge Drive around 9:45 a.m. that saw one person transported for treatment and another on James Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos around 3 p.m. where a vehicle reportedly struck a utility pole.

The Vacation Home Rental Advisory Board is meeting 1 p.m. today at Kahle Community Center for the first time since the end of August to take up an appeal of a permit revocation on Granite Springs off Kingsbury Grade in Stateline. Board members will also discuss possible revisions to the code.

The Douglas High School Marching Band is leading off Division 3 of Saturday’s Nevada Day Parade, but it’s not the first Douglas entry. That honor belongs to the Tahoe Knight Monsters hockey team, who are at the end of Division 1 with the Las Vegas Raiders and the Reno Aces. The parade begins at 10 a.m.

The Knight Monsters opening night is Thursday where Zephyr Cove Elementary and Whittell High school students are invited to perform the National Anthem and "God Bless America" during the opening ceremony.

There’s a lake wind advisory for Western Nevada outside of the Tahoe Basin 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. Southwest winds of 15-20 mph, gusting to 30 mph are forecast with a high temperature of 78 degrees under sunny skies.
