The 3rd annual Día de Los Muertos festival is 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 2 at Heritage Park in Gardnerville.

The festival is presented by Main Street Gardnerville, Douglas County Community Services, and the Carson Valley Arts Council.

"It has been such a joy to witness this event organically grow year after year, be embraced, and quickly become a community favorite and a beautiful cultural celebration right here in downtown Gardnerville," said Main Street Program Director Jen Tune. "It has been an incredible collaborative effort made possible by the tremendous support from Douglas County Community Services Senior Recreational Coordinator Jen Calabrese."
The Latino Arte De Culture of Reno will return for their third year as the event's highlight, with the Aztec Dancers and their 12-foot La Catrina Doll telling the story of Dia De Los Muertos. Mariachi Sol de Reno will return with incredible mariachi music, local Grupo Paso Fino and Douglas High School graduates are scheduled to perform, and the Nuestra Dancers will return with beautiful folkloric dance.
It will be a day filled with authentic food, beverages, arts and crafts courtesy of the Carson Valley Arts Council, face painting, and vendors from our local Hispanic business community and beyond.
