Genoa, Nev. — Welcome to Nevada Day (observed as far from actual Nevada Day as you can get). Local and state offices are closed today in preparation for the big parade on Saturday. I’ll post the schedule this morning.

Deputies responded to a report of a robbery up at Topsy around 2:15 p.m. Thursday. Turned out it was a misdemeanor theft when a man wearing flannel and blue jeans allegedly took another man’s phone and made off on a blue bicycle.

Polls are open for in-person voting 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center. You can drop off your mailed ballot at the election office in the Douglas County Courthouse.

The roving ballot box will be at the Genoa Town Hall 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and at the Washoe Tribe Community Center 3-6 p.m. today.

The deadline for getting a replacement mailed ballot was Tuesday. If you didn’t get one or mismarked the one you did get, the only option now is to vote in person, according to the state law cited by Clerk-Treasurer Amy Burgans.

It’s opening night for Black Ice Theatre Co. and Carson Valley Community Theatre presentation of “Misery” 7:30 p.m. at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Visit carsonvalleycommunitytheatre.org for show times and more information.

Thursday’s Halloween Toddler Time at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center was packed. A Trunk or Treat is 3-7 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Sierra View Lanes bowling alley, 1281 Kimmerling Road, Gardnerville Ranchos.

It might be a tad cloudy out this morning clearing as we go through the day. The high temperature is forecast to hit 75 degrees, with the wind 5 mph out of the southwest this morning.
