Forward progress on a fire burning in Alpine View was reported stopped at 3 acres around 11:25 a.m., firefighters on scene reported.

The three-alarm fire in Alpine View prompted an evacuation notice and the closure of Jacks Valley Road at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Initial reports from the scene were that gusty winds were causing the fire to spread into brush.

Jacks Valley Road reopened while Bavarian remained closed at 11:45 a.m. All but one Douglas County Sheriff's deputy were released from the scene, along with the Nevada State Police and Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team members.

East Fork and Carson City firefighters are on scene for the fire.

A tender from Genoa was the first to arrive with four more en route by 11 a.m.

Several brush trucks were sought to help fight the fire from the Sierra Front Minden Dispatch.

Emergency workers issued a Reverse 911 call in the neighborhood and there were reports of members of the Douglas County Sheriff's Search and Rescue going door to door to alert residents to the danger.

The fire is reported to have started near Alpine View Court and Bavarian.

An NV Energy wind gauge located across Jacks Valley from the neighborhood recorded a 43 mph gust at 10:40 a.m.
