Genoa, Nev. — Expect a big jump in the number of voters today as more ballots arrive. According to the Secretary of State’s Office, 343 Douglas voters cast ballots in person on Saturday. That brought the county to a 40.1 percent turnout in the first week of early voting.
This is the final week of early in-person voting 9-6 p.m. at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center. You can drop off ballots at the Douglas County Courthouse in Minden or 3-6 p.m. at the Indian Hills General Improvement District office.
A Minden teenager was transported for medical treatment after suffering burns to his face and body. The call came in around 7 p.m. and the teen was transported to Carson Valley Health for treatment after weather concerns delayed a helicopter.
The Alpine View fire was essentially extinguished by lunchtime on Sunday. No cause has been reported for the fire that started around 10: 30 a.m. in the neighborhood off Jacks Valley Road.
School’s back in session starting today, so watch for the buses and children walking to class.
Members of the Water Conveyance Advisory Committee are being asked to approve an application for Muller Parkway, after Park Ranch rescinded its approved application in the conflict with the county over the road. The committee meets 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Minden Inn.
As the front arrives, 50-degree temperatures were common around Carson Valley this morning with breezy conditions. It was sprinkling in Genoa around 6 a.m., so there’s a little moisture with this storm.
It rained a bit in Genoa around 6 a.m., which is in line with the forecast. There’s another possible dose of moisture after 11 a.m. today with the snow level dropping to 5,600 feet. Overnight, the snow level could hit 4,700 feet. The west wind is predicted to be 5-15 mph through most of the day.
