Six months after the unveiling of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada’s new clubhouse on Ironwood Drive, The Wray Family Clubhouse is set to officially open on Nov. 12.

The club will be hosting a grand opening ceremony and open house on Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. for the community to attend. Families can tour the clubhouse, meet the staff and sign up to become a club member.

This comprehensive clubhouse will serve ages 9 months to 18 years old with the after school program for grades k-12 starting on Nov. 12 and the daycare and pre-kindergarten program to open in Jan. 2025.

In partnership with the Douglas County School District, 9 schools across the district will have bus routes after school to the new clubhouse including Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School, Scarselli Elementary School, Meneley Elementary School, Gardnerville Elementary School, Piñon Hills Elementary School, Minden Elementary School, Jacks Valley Elementary School, Carson Valley Middle School and Douglas High School.

The Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada opened in 1993 and has since expanded to three locations in Carson City, Minden, and Gardnerville serving more than 1,500 members.

An effort to establish Carson Valley’s own clubhouse has been ongoing for nearly 20 years, which until it’s opening in November, Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School has housed Valley Boys and Girls Club members.

“This month marks a monumental milestone in our expansion journey,” said CEO of Boys & Girls’ Club of Western Nevada Brett Zunino. “After 14 years of dedication, perseverance, and the unwavering support of our community, we are beyond proud to open the doors to the Wray Family Clubhouse.”

The Clubhouse was named The Wray Family Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada to pay homage to Lois Wray, who donated the building at 990 Ironwood Drive.

“This Clubhouse is not just a building; it’s a testament to what we can achieve when the community comes together for a shared vision,” said Zunino. “We look forward to the incredible future this Clubhouse will help us build, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this dream a reality, especially for Lois Wray and her family, the ones who made our dreams come true.”
