Genoa, Nev. — An overdue paddleboarder was found safe at Zephyr Cove Beach on Sunday night after searchers from several agencies were called out to look for him.

A collision at Cave Rock 2:12 p.m. Sunday backed up travelers on Highway 50, sending some over Kingsbury to avoid the stoppage. There was another collision just before involving a Prius in the vicinity, so it was tow trucks all around.

It’s Labor Day, so lots of things are closed today, including The Record-Courier. We still have a newspaper to get out, so I’ll be working on that today, just not in the office.

The red flag flies at 11 a.m. today and will be in place through 8 p.m. I’ve lost track, but this feels like maybe the eighth or ninth red flag warning since the season began.

There isn’t a very good range for air quality, but this morning’s 5 at Ranchos Aspen Park is pretty darn close. Southerly winds may bring smoke from the Coffee Pot fire north from Sequoia National Park today, but that’s a long way off.

Today’s forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature of 88 degrees. The wind is expected to pick up out of the southwest at 15-20 mph late this morning with gusts of 35 mph.
