The courthouse didn’t have an elevator when it was built more than a century ago, and thanks to difficulties getting it repaired, it doesn’t now either.

The present elevator was installed when the courthouse was renovated in the early 1980s after the Sheriff’s Office and courts moved to the Judicial & Law Enforcement Center.

The historic courthouse elevator is currently receiving upgrades and is inaccessible, and the Zoom component will allow for the meeting to be accessible to all individuals.

Douglas County will be providing a virtual Zoom option during the Board of County Commissioners Meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Members of the public who wish to view and participate in the meeting may use the Zoom registration link: https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_wfxwnnQOR4Gy824Xfe3UeA#/registration

Participants who join will be muted until it is time for public comment. A moderator will then unmute participants one at a time for public comment.

The meeting will be live-streamed for the public to watch on the county’s YouTube page and public comment may be submitted in writing in advance of the meeting through the county’s public comment form by clicking on the following link: https://www.douglascountynv.gov/government/board_of_county_commissioners/b_o_c_c_agenda_and_minutes
