Genoa, Nev. — We may see some smoke from the 2,000-acre Bear Fire burning near Loyalton in California due west of Cold Spring. Fire.airnow.gov shows air quality is still good in the Valley, but it gets worse as you go north.
Gardnerville is moving forward with the process to approve an $8.51 a month residential trash rate increase to take effect July 1, 2025, which amounts to a 35 percent across the board. There will be two meetings as part of the process, likely in November and December.
Public comment on reopening the Gardnerville parks master plan to eliminate several items from the Mountain View Nature Park was split fairly evenly, though one thing a lot of folks agreed on is that visitors need to clean up after their dogs.
The design review for the proposed judicial center goes to the Minden Town Board 5:30 p.m. today. Also on the agenda are the Sept. 25 Homecoming celebration in Minden Park and master plan amendment and zone change for a property near Minden Meat and Deli.
The big item on Genoans’ agenda is to decide whether they want to meet three days after Candy Dance in October. I hate prejudging these, but I bet not.
Two items from Tuesday’s morning report were actually for Wednesday, including the amateur astronomy and astrophotography presentation at the River Fork Ranch on Genoa Lane and the opening of artist PK Klein’s show at the Copeland Gallery. Both are correct in today’s calendar.
The forecast is for sunny skies with a high near 90 degrees, and the wind out of the north at 5 mph. That’s going to bring smoke down our way tonight and Thursday before the wind shifts Thursday night.
