Genoa, Nev. — The Bear Fire burned overnight and without any containment as of 1 a.m. today. Officially, it’s grown to 3,280 acres, though satellite mapping shows it could be closer to 4,200 acres this morning. East Fork and Tahoe Douglas fire districts each sent a brush truck up to the Bear Fire on Wednesday morning.

Air quality sensors are reading moderate in Minden and points north, while fire.air.gov shows Gardnerville is still in the good range with a 34. There is a sensor in Fish Springs reading hazardous, which is worse than Loyalton downwind of the fire, so I suspect that reading is erroneous.
There are a lot of Lake Tahoe items on commissioners’ agenda today including a presentation by the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority and the South Shore Chamber in order to receive the room tax money collected by the county on their behalf.
If you’ve trouble navigating the steep stairs at the historic Douglas County Courthouse, you may want to attend today’s 10 a.m. meeting virtually. The elevator is out of action, but I heard this morning that the state inspectors could clear it for operation on Monday.
Toddler Time is 9-11 a.m. today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center for children 9 months to 5 years old. Cost is $3 per child.
The forecast calls for sunny, warm and hazy with a high temperature of 94 degrees and the wind out of the north at 5 mph this afternoon. The haze is expected to linger tonight before clearing out on Friday.
