The Douglas County Composite Squadron hosted a change of command ceremony to commemorate the transition of leadership from Lt. Col. Dale F. Brown to Saratoga Springs resident Lt. Col. Steven R. Accinelli.
“During the ceremony, Brown bid farewell to his role as commander, having demonstrated remarkable leadership and dedication throughout his tenure, according to spokesman Jim Doolittle. “Under Lt Col. Brown’s guidance, the squadron achieved notable milestones and fostered an environment of growth, discipline, and camaraderie. The New York Times Best Selling author and command pilot is looking forward to continuing to serve the Squadron and Nevada Wing.”
The squadron expressed their deep gratitude to Brown for his exceptional leadership and contributions, which have significantly impacted the squadron's success, Doolittle said.
Stepping into the role of commander on Aug. 22, Accinelli now assumes the responsibility of leading the Squadron. Accinelli has over five years with CAP and is technician-rated in standardization and safety. He has supported the Wendover Encampment over the last three years as a training officer. Prior to CAP, Accinelli was chairman of Dubuque University Aviation Department and was designated Professor Emeritus in Aviation by the UD Board of Trustees. He retired from the U.S. Army after 25 years as Master Army Aviator.
Nevada Wing Commander Col. Brian C. Howard officiated the ceremony.
