Genoa, Nev. — The plume from the Davis Fire was so prominent, it resulted in at least two fire calls on Sunday from northern Douglas County residents. I could see it on the Bald Mountain Alert Wildfire Camera in the Pine Nuts above Fish Springs.

The fire was one of the factors that prompted East Fork Professional Firefighters to cancel their Sept. 14 barbecue for active and retired members.

It was also one of the reasons that the Nevada State Police wasn’t able to respond to a couple of collisions on Saturday including a T-bone collision at Highway 395 and Riverview at 7:30 p.m. Saturday where one driver reportedly left the scene. One person was transported.

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle around 11 p.m. Friday and transported by East Fork ambulance to Renown Regional Medical Center. I’ve reached out to the Nevada State Police for more but given the current emergency, I doubt I’ll hear much anytime soon.

The new 10th Street sidewalk project is scheduled to start today, so don’t be surprised if you have to take the back way to get into The Record-Courier this morning.

The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 89 degrees, which might as well be 90. The wind starts out at 5-10 mph from the southeast picking up to 10-15 mph and shifting southwest. Gusts could hit 25 mph.
