Docket No. 24-05041

 NOTICE OF CONSUMER SESSION

AND

NOTICE OF HEARINGS

On May 31, 2024, Nevada Power Company d/b/a NV Energy (“Nevada Power”) and Sierra Pacific Power Company d/b/a NV Energy (“Sierra”) (collectively, “NV Energy”) filed with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (“Commission”) a joint application, designated as Docket No. 24-05041 (“Joint Application”), for approval of its 2025-2044 Triennial Integrated Resource Plan and 2025-2027 Energy Supply Plan.

NV Energy filed the Joint Application pursuant to the Nevada Revised Statutes (“NRS”) and the Nevada Administrative Code (“NAC”) Chapters 703 and 704, including, but not limited to NRS 704.741 et seq. and NAC 704.9005 et seq. Pursuant to NRS 703.190 and NAC 703.527 et seq., NV Energy requests that certain information in the Joint Application receive confidential treatment.

NV Energy states that the Joint Application demonstrates how it intends to address the State’s clean energy goals and policies and meet the energy demands of their customers by balancing cost, reliability, and decarbonization goals with a demand-side management plan to provide grid value and create foundational strategies to enable flexible loads and deploy cost-effective Non-Wires Alternatives to support the needs of the grid and the State of Nevada. NV Energy specifically seeks approval to: (1) add three power purchase agreements for solar-generating resources totaling more than 1,000 megawatts (“MW”), each with co-located battery energy storage systems; (2) purchase, install, and operate two company-owned hydrogen-capable natural gas simple cycle combustion turbines; and (3) construct transmission infrastructure necessitated by the new resources and to support growing customer demand.
