The Carson Valley Women’s Golf Club held their Christmas in September themed tournament on Sept. 3 with a four-person scramble.

The first-place team came in with a score of 66 and included Suze Ericson, Shana Lakso, and Felicia Sotomayor. The second-place team consisted of Omega Berryhill, Judy Brooke, and Bev Hefferly. Coming in third place was the team of Michele Cline, Jeanine Felix, Jan Lieberman, and Vickie Oland. And, finally, the fourth-place team included Gail Ellingwood, Lorie McMahon, Jan Nolan, and Monica Siewertsen. The closest to the pin winners were Suze Ericson (Hole No. 1), Felicia Sotomayor (Hole No. 17), and Elise Smith (Hole No. 18). Both Sue Eropkin and Shana Lakso had chip-ins.

September is also National Suicide Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness of this urgently important crisis.

In support of the Carson Valley’s local nonprofit organization, Suicide Prevention Network, the women’s golf club had Community Programs Coordinator Amy Roby speak to members about the different levels of support they offer our community free of charge. To support their efforts, the club members were able to raise $250 during their luncheon and present a check to the organization.

The club is conducting a benefit golf tournament, Teeing Up For The Cure, on Oct.12 at the Carson Valley Golf Course. The cost is $100/person which includes your green free, golf cart, swag bag, and lunch.

Shotgun start is 10 a.m. Play will include the option of purchasing team mulligans, a 5-card draw poker run, three closest to the pin competitions, and a longest drive competition. There will be both a raffle prize drawing and silent auction with prizes that include two rounds of golf at Edgewood. All proceeds from the golf tournament will benefit and support the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center Breast Fund’s efforts to help women in their breast cancer recovery journeys.
