Genoa, Nev. — The Douglas High School Homecoming Court will be greeting their subjects 5:30-7:30 p.m. at today’s celebration in Minden Park. The parade around the park is 6 p.m. and the Hall of Fame induction is 6:30 p.m.
Cars were parked for blocks along Minden’s streets as people visited Tuesday’s last Esmeralda Farmers Market. Expect more of the same this evening.
Heritage Park will see the last Just a Drop In Farmers Market of the season is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the last Wind Down Wednesday 4-8 p.m. this season. The Gardnerville Park won’t be quiet for too long with the big Fall Festival on Oct. 5.
The University of Nevada, Reno Extension Douglas County and Douglas County 4-H host a Fall Harvest Festival 5-7 p.m. today at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, 1450 Highway 88 in Minden.
The burned bear from the Davis Fire had to be euthanized, according to the Nevada Department of Wildlife. The bear was found by firefighters but was too badly burned to survive.
It was quite warm out on Tuesday with Minden-Tahoe Airport’s automated weather system recording a high of 86 degrees. I saw some bank clocks that reported 88 degrees in town, and it sure felt like it.
Today’s going to have a similar high temperature, but with 10-15 mph southwest winds added to the mix. It will keep going after midnight with gusts of 25 mph. Gusty winds and low humidity has prompted the Weather Service to warn of increased fire danger this afternoon.
