Genoa, Nev. — Members of the Douglas County Republican Central Committee are conducting a town hall meeting 6 p.m. today to discuss the ballot questions at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville.

Candy Dance 2024 has ridden into the sunset for another year. It didn’t seem like there were any major issues in town over the weekend besides several ambulance calls and a few traffic snafus, which is to be expected at an event that attracts the equivalent to three-fifths of the county’s population over one weekend.

A fireworks show at Genoa Lakes reportedly associated with a wedding on Saturday night prompted some concerns from neighbors. Fireworks shows may be conducted by a licensed pyrotechnician with a permit in Douglas County, according to the code approved in 2012.

Minden received 9.33 inches of precipitation over the course of the 2023-24 water year, according to National Weather Service records, which is right on the bubble for the annual average of 9.34 inches.

Today is the last day of the water year but given the forecast for sunny skies through the week, I’m willing to give odds we’re not going to add anything to the total precipitation.

One thing that’s not over are the warm temperatures, which are anticipated to hit 90 degrees on Tuesday after a brief cool down to 81 degrees today. We might see high temperatures back in the low 80s next weekend.
