Genoa, Nev. — Lake Tahoe schools are on a 90-minute delayed start due to icy conditions and buses will only be using mains stops both this morning and this afternoon, according to the Douglas County School District’s website.
Chain controls are in effect this morning over Kingsbury Grade and on Highway 50 from Carson over Spooner to Stateline at the Lake, which remains under a winter storm warning until 11 p.m. tonight.
I got word that the roads are icy up in Carson City and in the Pine Nuts this morning. Chains or snow tires are being required on Interstate 580 around the capital, so maybe give the sun and snowplows a little extra time this morning if you can.
Gardnerville Town Board members meet to discuss their annual budget 4:30 p.m. at their town offices, 1407 Main St. The town board will also discuss a proposal to contract with Douglas Disposal for backup trash pickup and a bid for the Maverik storm drain extension.
County commissioners wrap up budget hearings starting 10 a.m. today with Public Works, the County Manager’s office and a final review with finance before offering direction at the end of the day.
I watched some of the hearings on Monday, but it will be Wednesday before I can get caught up.
Parks & Recreation advisors are scheduled to discuss the Fairgrounds feasibility study 6 p.m. tonight at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center.
There’s a little bit of snow on the ground down in Carson Valley this morning. I measured 2.25 inches north of Genoa. Fredericksburg resident Jeff Garvin reports about an inch at his place and a dusting in Minden.
There might be some snow showers after 11 a.m. today with a high temperature of 46 degrees. The wind is predicted pick up out of the west at 10-20 mph gusting to 30 mph. Some snow might accumulate in spots, but not a lot.
