Genoa, Nev. — Mono County Public Health confirmed a third death due to hantavirus in the Town of Mammoth Lakes. “Hantavirus is a serious and often fatal illness which people can get through contact with infected deer mouse droppings, urine, or saliva,” according to the release.

County commissioners approved a 29-unit project on 4.45 acres 4-1 between Gardnerville Elementary School and Chichester Estates. Developers presented a letter detailing an agreement with the school district. Mark Gardner was the dissenter.

Gardner also voted against the 5G cell towers with four commissioners approving a year’s continuance for the site at Minden Station 14 and voting to uphold the planning commission approval of the one at East Fork Station 6 on Stephanie Way.

I don’t expect we’ve seen the last of that effort against the tower along Stephanie Way. It will be a couple of weeks before the formal record is ready, should the folks who appealed the approval decide to take the issue to district court.

An online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XBVZTL9 regarding Title 20 wraps up today. The survey was intended for businesses, and there will be “opportunities for broader public engagement in the future,” according to the county. Title 20 governs the county’s development code.
