An eight-day trial is next month for two men accused of robbing the COD Casino in Minden on July 14, 2023.

Chase Aaron Henderson and Andrew Scott Toomey participated in a pre-trial hearing on Tuesday in preparation for the trial scheduled to begin on May 7.

An effort for Toomey to sever the pair’s proceedings was denied by District Judge Tod Young, though he did offer to bring in a separate table for Toomey and attorney Max Stovall.

The rest of the motions presented on Tuesday dealt with Henderson and his record.

Both men are scheduled to appear in court next week to review a stipulation between Henderson’s attorney Christopher Day and prosecutor Chelsea Mazza.

At issue is Henderson’s criminal record, which includes a battery by a prisoner charge for which he is currently incarcerated. Day asked that Henderson be transferred back to the jail pending the trial by May 5.

He was also reportedly on federal parole when the casino robbery occurred.

“Don’t try to elicit inadmissible evidence,” Young said, pointing out that attorneys on both sides had an obligation to object to testimony should they feel it was unfair.
