An Indian Hills man is free on his own recognizance after he admitted to a count of felony attempted eluding in Douglas County District Court last week.

Brad Alan Lunger, 49, faces up to 28-72 months in prison at his March 25 sentencing, though prosecutors will recommend probation and that his sentence be concurrent to a driving under the influence charge.

Lunger was arrested Nov. 29, 2024, after he drove away from a deputy who stopped him at near Centerville and Waterloo lanes while intoxicated.

Deputies pursued him onto Tillman Lane where Lunger was traveling 50 mph and driving into oncoming lanes. He slowed down as he approached the intersection with Kimmerling and a deputy knocked him off the road.

Lunger was released on a $5,000 bond after his arrest but was taken into custody on Jan. 5 due to an alternative sentencing violation.

A man who failed to stop for a police officer faces up to six years in prison.

John Doyle Nicholson, 35, was arrested Sept. 23, 2024 after failing to stop for a police officer.

According to court documents, Nicholson was driving at speeds reaching 100 mph. He drove through the stop lights at the intersections of Jacks Valley Road and Mica Drive and drove into oncoming traffic on Highway 395. He eventually collided with another vehicle.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 24.

• A Yerington man, who wouldn’t stop for authorities during a Nevada Day weekend 2023 pursuit, was found not competent to aid in his defense last week.

Adolf Erich Zoellmer, 62, was ordered to report to Lakes Crossing Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services to seek restoration to competency after he was found not to be a danger.

“I’m no danger to anybody,” he said. Zoellmer said he has a social worker and a neurologist for his stage 4 Parkinson’s.

Zoellmer is not allowed to drive, so he has been working out transportation from Yerington to Sparks.

Zoellmer was arrested Oct. 27, 2023, after leading a pursuit from Truckee Meadows all the way through Indian Hills.

He was driving on Interstate 580 at around 90 mph with no headlights. He was stopped when deputies set up a spike strip that slowed the Chevy Trax he was driving sufficiently to allow a deputy to knock him off the road.

• Charges of DUI and leaving the scene of a collision will be dropped after a Gardnerville man was found incompetent and unable to be restored.

William Centers has been in custody since Dec. 12 after he was arrested for driving under the influence, his third over the course of 2024, including in February and October.

The only option for prosecutors is to seek to commit Centers.
