Gardnerville Elementary School second-grade teacher Vivian Michalik was named this year’s Tahoe-Douglas Elks Citizen of the Year.

Michalik will be honored 5 p.m. March 8 at the Lodge, 1227 Kimmerling Road, in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

“The Elks Citizen of the Year is a prestigious recognition presented to an individual who has made significant contributions to the community,” according to the club. “Each Lodge selects a citizen, not necessarily an Elk, who has contributed in a special way to improving the local community.”

The award dinner will be catered by La Mère Lutz’s Chef Remon Zamalis.
