The George Whittell High School boys ski team competed at Kirkwood on Feb. 11-12 and finished as state runner-up in slalom and combined.

Logan Robertson earned overall league MVP and Brent Smith took seventh place overall.

The Douglas High School girls ski team took second place in points overall for both days of competition after taking second place in giant slalom and third place finish in slalom. Azalyn Vasey finished on the podium with a fifth-place finish in giant slalom and the overall competition.


DOUGLAS, SIERRA LUTHERAN ALL STATE PERFORMERS

Douglas’ Whitney Walters and Tarrah Newell both earned all-league and all-state consideration.

Vasey and Lisa Rossi earned all-state recognition while Abby Hamer was selected for the all-league team.

On the boys side, Callen Broadhurst was selected for all-state and all-league honors.

His teammates Atticus Simis, Owen McMeachan, Jack Phillips and Colt Cummins received all-league nods.

For Sierra Lutheran skiing, Ansley McHenry picked up all-state and all-league honors this season.

Matt Fahey was selected to the all-league team.
