Felon denies possession of stun gun, drugs

A Feb. 13 trial is set in the case of a Lake Tahoe woman, who is denying charges she was a felon in possession of an electronic stun device, a controlled substance, and a dangerous drug without a prescription.

Sarah Lynn Anderson, 35, pleaded not guilty on Monday.

Anderson has been in Douglas County custody since Oct. 27, 2024.

According to jail records, she is also being held on a fugitive warrant out of El Dorado County.

According to the Nevada Department of Corrections she served a four-year sentence in 2009.

• A man who used force on another to prevent him from calling the police faces up to six years in prison.

Jesus Mariscal-Corona, 34, was arrested Sept. 24, 2024, after he struck and pushed a person. While the victim attempted to call 911, Mariscal-Corona took the phone and threw it, causing it to break.

Marsical-Corona is being held without bail until his sentencing set for Feb. 10.

• A woman who used a stolen credit card at three different stores admitted to fraudulent use of a credit card on Monday.

Mandi Rene Humphrey, 46, was arrested May 20, 2023, after using a stolen credit card at Big 5, Maverick, and Tractor Supply.

Humphrey faces four years in prison at sentencing which is set for Feb. 10.

• An 80-year-old man who received his third DUI within months of his other two has been ordered to undergo a competency review hearing.

William Elliot Centers was last arrested on Dec. 12 after he allegedly struck a car and was pulled over in Gardnerville within days of being released from a Carson City mental health facility.

Centers has Parkinson’s-related dementia, according to attorney Mary Brown, and is unable to be restored. He was convicted of his first offense in February and allegedly had another on Oct. 1. That was when he was deemed incompetent to aid in his defense.

After the third DUI in December, which is punishable by mandatory prison, prosecutors refiled on the Oct. 1 incident and insisted on another evaluation.

A competency hearing is scheduled for Jan. 27.
