Leadership raises $5,852 from Bingo for Buddies

Members of the the Leadership Douglas County Class of 2024 raised $5,852.06 for the Douglas County Animal Shelter through Bingo for Buddies held Aug. 25, 2024.

The large crowd at the CVIC Hall was conducted in partnership with the Back to School event organized by CV Flyte.

The money was raised through Bingo earnings, raffle sales, and community canvassing efforts.

“The funds will help support improvements and projects at the Douglas County Animal Shelter, which works to improve its adoption process and enhance its facilities,” Leadership Class members said. “The shelter not only helps animals find forever homes but also offers educational programs, dog licensing, pet services, and volunteer opportunities for the community.”

The Leadership Douglas County Class of 2024 included Whitney Bullion, Rachel Gasporra, Pamela Litka, Nikki Rudelbach, Kara Easton, Michelle Simpson, David Stanley, Chris Wiggins, Jake Mitchell, Erin Dudley, Geoffrey Bonar, Meggan Stodieck-Melandow, and Farmer Wilson.

“Their collaboration and hard work made Bingo for Buddies a standout event that will have a lasting impact on the shelter and the animals it serves,” according to the group said.

On Friday, members of the Leadership Douglas County Class of 2024 gathered to turn over the raised funds to the shelter.

“We are proud to support the Douglas County Animal Shelter and help improve its services for the animals and community,” said Whitney Bullion. “The success of this event shows how powerful community engagement can be.”

The Douglas County Animal Shelter will use the funds for projects to enhance the adoption process and create a better environment for both animals and visitors.

Leadership Douglas County is a program that empowers community leaders to become change-makers. Each year, a new class of participants engages in projects that make a tangible impact on Douglas County.
