Genoa, Nev. — A wind advisory has been issued for Western Nevada through 7 p.m. today with 20-30 mph southwest winds gusting to 60-65 mph in wind prone areas like Highway 88 between Mottsville and Centerville.
A winter weather advisory for the Sierra around Lake Tahoe is in effect from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today with 1-4 inches of snow possible at lake level. The top of Kingsbury and Spooner could see some snow this afternoon so be careful on the evening commute.
Newly elected East Fork Justice of the Peace Laurie Trotter’s investiture ceremony is 3 p.m. Jan. 10 in District Judge Tom Gregory’s courtroom on the second floor of the Douglas County Judicial & Law Enforcement Center.
Outgoing Justice of the Peace Paul Gilbert said Thursday he’ll be on the bench for Saturday’s hearings, before heading into retirement after 50 years of public service. It's entirely possible Gilbert will be back on the bench occasionally as Trotter builds a pool of pro-tems.

It might rain this afternoon mixing with snow around sunset. The forecast calls for around .16 inches and no snow accumulation. It’s 46 degrees at 7 a.m. in Minden, and is predicted to hit 54 under mostly sunny skies this morning before the front rolls in.
