A book drive that gathered more than 2,000 books for Minden Elementary School was Alexander Villasenor’s Eagle Scout Project in 2019 ad detailed on the front page of The Record-Courier.
The 2020 Douglas High School graduate hit a significant milestone when he was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Navy.
Ensign Villasenor will serve as a nuclear submarine officer.
A native of Minden, Villasenor graduated with honors from Douglas High School, where he served as the JROTC Battalion Commander and earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
He went on to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla., graduating in the fall of 2024 with honors and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering through the Navy ROTC program.
Currently assigned to a special initial role at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, Calif., Villasenor is preparing to begin Navy Nuclear Power School in Charleston, S.C., in April. Following his initial sea tour as a junior line officer, he has also been accepted into the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif., where he will pursue a master’s degree in mechanical and naval engineering through the Junior Line Officer Advanced Education Program.
