Genoa, Nev. —East Fork firefighters will likely be on the scene of a barn fire on the Settelmeyer property south of Gardnerville for a couple of hours. The call came in at 1:35 a.m. today.
Chain controls have melted off with the snow this morning. Temperatures are above freezing in most spots, so far, according to the National Weather Service. Watch out for ice forming where melt-off got the roads wet in some of the shadier spots.
Douglas County commissioners will be asked what to do after the resignation of Public Administrator Steve Walsh today. Those items will take up the back end of the meeting today.
Commissioners will conduct their own election to determine who’s going to run the meetings in 2025. They meet 10 a.m. today at the Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St., Minden.
Whether it snows tonight is debatable, but the wind advisory for Lake Tahoe is a pretty sure bet. The advisory kicks in at 10 p.m. and lasts until 4 a.m. Wednesday, with east winds 15-25 mph, gusting to 40 mph and waves 1-3 feet.
Minden is forecast to see mostly sunny skies and a high near 50 degrees, with wind out of the east at 5 mph. The snow level is predicted to drop to 4,700 feet after midnight with the low dropping into the 20s after the wind shifts north.
