A Gardnerville Ranchos man who fled deputies back in August was sentenced Monday to the maximum 6-15 years in prison for a subsequent case of driving under the influence.
Travis Paul Atchison, 34, also received an additional 12-30 months for attempting to elude deputies.
“Your problem isn’t just alcohol,” said Douglas County District Judge Thomas Gregory in sentencing Atchison. “Your problem is alcohol and driving over and over. You are a danger to the community.”
Atchison was arrested Aug.7, 2024 after he fled deputies through Dresslerville before stopping near Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School.
The pursuit crossed the Washoe bridge and then up through Dresslerville at more than 50 mph, according to deputies.
He had a .224 blood alcohol content and was supposed to be in East Fork Justice Court that day for another case.
Atchison was originally charged with eluding, possession of a controlled substance, failure to appear in court.
Atchison has two prior DUI convictions within the last seven years with the first in December 2019.
• A $5,000 warrant was issued for Jeremy Lee Daley on Monday for failure to appear in court.
Daley admitted to possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl in August 2024 and was sentenced to diversion and to complete the Western Nevada Regional Drug Court Program.
According to court reports, Daley never showed up to the program and was returned to Douglas County District Court for sentencing, where he faces eight years in prison.
• A duo who stole more than $1,200 worth of items from Walmart admitted to the theft on Monday.
Nicholas Neal, 45, and Brandon Robert Amos, 41, were arrested Nov. 21, 2024 after stealing multiple items including bed sheets, dish sets, pots and pans, compressed air cans, backpacks, and pocket knives.
Both face up to four years in prison at sentencing which is scheduled for Feb. 15.
Amos has another theft charge set for a Feb. 24 hearing which could run concurrent or consecutive with the Walmart theft giving him another four years in prison.
