A report of a man driving a white motorhome recklessly on Highway 395 through the Pine Nuts on Thursday resulted in an arrest, Douglas County Sheriff Dan Coverley said.
Deputies were dispatched around noon to the area of Pine Valley Road.
“The vehicle was described as a white motorhome and was reportedly swerving all over the road into the oncoming lane as it travelled northbound on Highway 395,” Coverley said on Friday.
Motorists called in the motorhome and one continued to provide updates to deputies.
“Deputies located the vehicle on Highway 395 at Riverview Drive,” Coverley said. “The vehicle was stopped on Highway 395 at Charlotte.”
The driver was identified as Gardnerville resident Jimmie Reimann, 73, who was taken into custody for second driving under the influence and driving without insurance or registration.
Reimann appeared in East Fork Justice Court on Friday morning where prosecutor Chelsea Mazza agreed to his release on his own recognizance pending the results of a blood test.
“He’s got a lengthy history of drug use and he’s currently on (supervision) for failing to register as a felon,” Mazza said.
Reimann was released today with a pending court date in March.
He served two stretches in Nevada prison for being under the influence of a controlled substance in Douglas in 2018 and for grand larceny of a motor vehicle out of Lyon County in 2021, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.
“I appreciate the citizens who took the time to call 911 and report this,” Coverley said. “They definitely helped prevent a tragic accident.”
