Genoa, Nev. — The big digital billboard at the base of Indian Hills is advertising a GoFundMe account for the Wildfire Relief Fund. Organized by the company, it has raised $2.27 million as of first light on Monday. The company is charging a fee on donations, so keep that in mind.


The Better Business Bureau is asking that people be aware that along with legitimate charities, there are also a lot of scammers sending out texts and emails purporting to be for real. “Don’t click on email, text, or social media links promising to connect you to a familiar charity,” they said.


Bail was set at $45,000 cash on Saturday for two women arrested for what was described as a “complex fraud.” I’m still learning more about that case and will have something additional this morning.


I got to see what almost 100 people in a district courtroom looked like at Friday afternoon’s investiture for justices of the peace Mike Johnson and Laurie Trotter.


It dropped down to 12 degrees at Minden-Tahoe Airport this morning. Today will be cool with the high forecast to hit 38 degrees, which only is a little warmer than Sunday’s high temperature of 37 degrees. Sunny skies are predicted with the wind out of the east at 5 mph shifting southwest later in the morning.
