A gathering is noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the CVIC Hall to honor longtime Douglas County leader Scott Morgan.
Morgan wrapped up 31 years with the county coming to work as the first director of parks and recreation in January 1994.
Featuring a light lunch, socializing and a final farewell from the man who came to embody Douglas County’s Community Services Department, no cards or gifts are sought, according to the flier announcing the event.
Morgan, who officially retired on Jan. 3, will be the subject of a proclamation at commissioners’ Thursday meeting.
That’s going to happen at 2 p.m., according to the agenda.
Morgan served as the director of Community Services until January 2023 when he shifted into the assistant county manager position vacated when Jenifer Davidson was named county manager.
Morgan came to work for Douglas County as the first parks and recreation director after the two departments were combined.
He became the first director of the Community Services Department when that was formed in 1996.
During his 31-year tenure, Morgan has overseen Parks, Recreation, Social Services, Senior Services, Noxious Weed Control, Animal Care and Services, Public Health Nurse, and the DART transportation Departments.
