Douglas High School boys basketball (7-8, 4-3 in Class 4A North league play) led 42-31 at halftime over Damonte Ranch (8-7, 5-2) Friday night, but the Mustangs stormed back with a 22-12 third quarter to make it a one-point contest for the fourth quarter.
In the end, the Tigers hung on for a 70-69 home win.
Four different Tiger players scored in double figures as Caden Thacker led the way with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Thacker added four assists and four steals.
Trent Ipsen added 15 while Daron Kizer and Evan Tolbert had 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Ipsen and Tolbert each had a team-high five rebounds while Tolbert tallied a pair of blocks, too. Ipsen also added five assists as the Tigers finished with 16 assists as a team in the win.
By the final horn, Douglas shot 59 percent from the floor in the win.
UP NEXT: Douglas took on Carson (6-11, 1-6) Monday night in Minden before hosting McQueen (9-7, 2-5) Wednesday. Friday night’s league contest will be played at Reed (6-9, 2-5).
TIGER GIRLS DISPATCH DAMONTE RANCH
Hailee Koontz’s 10 points and nine rebounds Friday night helped Douglas girls (7-8, 3-4) basketball beat Damonte Ranch, 47-35.
It marks the fifth win in the last six games for the Tigers, who like the boys, will play in three league games this week.
Against the Mustangs this past Friday, Giana Zinke added 10 points and six rebounds in the win while Ashlyn Greenfield tallied nine points of her own.
Madison Frisby ended the contest with six points and six rebounds along with two steals.
UP NEXT: Douglas tangled with rival Carson (6-9, 2-5) Monday in Minden. Today, Douglas will be back in action at home against McQueen (3-13, 0-7) before traveling north to Reed (13-1, 6-0) Friday.
