Genoa, Nev. — East Fork firefighters responded to a report of smoke coming out of a vent at Jethro’s in the Gardnerville Ranchos around 10 a.m. Sunday. The source was a heater, which was shut down by firefighters.

Skiers hit the slopes, and the slopes hit back over the weekend with Tahoe Douglas medics responding to Heavenly Boulder at least five times on Sunday.

There was a vehicle rollover 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Lakeside Road and Highway 50 in Glenbrook. Firefighters had to walk down to the Suburban on its side because the road was so slick. A van slid into a Jeep Cherokee around 5 p.m. Sunday at Highway 88 and Snowshoe Springs Road in Alpine County. Neither collision resulted in transport.

Chains or snow tires with four-wheel drive are being required this morning over Kingsbury and from Crystal Springs Road past Kirkwood on Highway 88. If anything, I expect the roads may be slicker this morning in the mountains.

Sunday’s storm was nowhere near sufficient to turn around the drying trend we’ve seen this winter. Ebbetts Pass has 52 percent of median snow water equivalent this morning. Carson Pass is at 60 percent. Both are at 35 inches snow depth with 2-3 inches falling over the weekend.

Sunday’s high temperatures remained below freezing across the county but will warm up a little bit today with a forecast high temperature of 39 degrees in Minden. A light northerly breeze will pick up this afternoon.
